Latvia–Lithuania border regions will receive 20 million Euro
28.11.2011
42 new projects submitted within the fourth Call for Proposals are approved for funding in the framework of the Latvia–Lithuania Programme requesting about 20 million Euro co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The final allocated amount may change as all projects are approved under conditions and will need to make changes in the projects activities and budgets according the Joint Monitoring and Steering Committee of the Programme decisions.

Additionally two projects are approved and will be contracted if amendments in the Programme Document regarding shift of 1.4 million Euro from Priority I to Priority II will be made and approved by the European Commission. In order to ensure commitment of all funding available within the Programme nine projects are included in the reserve list. These projects will have a possibility to receive ERDF co-financing if due to the savings of other approved projects the appropriate funds will be available.

Approved projects will carry out the joint activities in cooperation of 73 institutions from Latvia and 66 from Lithuania. Projects were submitted under four thematic groups: joint projects facilitating business, labour market, research and technology development; improvement of internal and external accessibility of the border region; enhancing joint management of public services and natural resources; development of active and sustainable communities.
