Summary Description of the Project:
The Project REGION INVEST is elaborated by the cross border partnership of 5 partners from Baltic Country of Lakes, involving Latgale and Utena regions. The partners are Latgale Planning Region (LP), Latgale Region Development Agency, Daugavpils University, Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant Regional Development Agency and Utena County Governor's Administration.
The partners has set the project objective to support cross regional economy and business sector in the current situation of economic decline and recession. The two main target groups involve business community of business start-ups and existing businesses. The project intervention is twofold: exploring opportunities to attract investments and stimulate export activities.
Business incubation facilities are to be developed and made functional throughout the project area (for business start-ups) and investments/exports are to be activated to reach both target groups.
The partnership is comprehensive and takes a cross border approach to use Lithuanian experience in developing business incubation facilities and to create a joint business support network. The Lithuanian 5 business support structures - Visaginas Business Incubator and area business information centres to link with 4 in Latgale - Daugavpils, Kraslava, Preili, Livani incubators in a joint system. Latgale region partners want to take over the experience and guidance of LT in creation of business incubation and information network in Latgale.
