Summary Description of the Project:
Latvia-Lithuania border regions have long economic and social background, but due to lack of cooperation and joint planning of transportation regions have not used their joint capacity in full amount.

Project activities directly refer Kurzeme, Zemgale and Latgale region in Latvia and Siauliai region in Lithuania but indirectly to Klaipeda,Telsiai, Utena and Panevezys Counties.

The main objective of the project is facilitation of socioeconomic development of Latvia-Lithuania border areas by increasing of internal and external accessibility of border areas with the development and provision of public transportation services in the regions, as well as with implementation and development of communication systems in the largest ports of both regions.

The main outputs of the project:
1. implementation and development of PGCS system;
2. improvement of PORT/GIS system;
3. improvement of KIPIS system;
4. modernisation of AIS system;
5. development of study on the optimisation of public transportation services;
6. participation in experience exchange trips and organization of publicity activities.
