Summary Description of the Project:
The objective of the project is to modernise the sphere of the humanities, in tertiary education in Eastern Latvia and Lithuania (Kaunas) by developing a joint research, infrastructure. The main benefits of Project activities: - The parallel corpus (Lithuanian-Latvian and Latvian-Lithuanian). Language corpus is a word database of samples of written from a wide range of sources, designed to represent a wide cross-section of current language.
- The special corpus (Latgalian) - a database of the texts of the Latgalian language.
- Research “Lithuanian-Latvian-Latgalian Language Lexicon”.
- Joint interdisciplinary doctoral study programme in Baltistics.
Both factors are important, namely, the direct project outcome and the fact that already in the implementation process of “HipiLatLit” and after it researchers, members of the teaching staff and students of the humanities of tertiary educational establishments of Kaunas and Rezekne will have mastered basic computational linguistics skills thus ensuring both the quality of individual researches and research availability in the Internet for a wider range of users. Furthermore, “HipiLatLit” strengthens competitiveness of the representatives of the tertiary education sphere of the region and thus positively influences the further development of business environment, culture and education spheres, at the same time proving efficient use of the existing and newly created, adapted IT resources, language tools in the humanitarian sphere. |
