Summary Description of the Project:

Learning at home in front of the TV set? If you have access to digital television, this could become an everyday thing according to the people behind the project. The current data transmission infrastructure is unable to ensure this, but two universities are working on a way for television to serve the needs of education.

Involving a great number of TV viewers, the project aims to collect reliable data on image and sound quality estimation. One of the project tasks is to develop six audio-visual training programmes for students which would be accessible on digital television in a number of languages. The project partners are also researching the possibility of introducing a system, which would warn people about emergency situations via digital television.
